PLATYSMA BANDS
TREATMENT

Platysma Bands

The platysma is a thin, flat muscle in the neck that plays a role in various neck movements, such as speaking, swallowing, and facial expressions. Over time, some individuals may develop visible platysma bands or neck bands, which can contribute to the development of jowls, necklace lines and sagging appearance of the neck. These lines may give rise to vertically appearing cords that go down from the jaw and the chin to the base of the neck.

At Eternity clinic, we provide treatment to Platysma bands using injections which can help relax the muscles in the neck and thus reduce the appearance of these bands, resulting in a smoother, more youthful neck contour. Effects can be seen within 3-5 days, however, it may take up to 2 weeks before the full effect is achieved.

Here’s how the procedure is typically done:

  1. Consultation: The process begins with a consultation with Dr Gad. During the consultation, you’ll discuss your concerns, medical history, and the impact of platysma bands on your appearance.

  2. Assessment: Dr Gad will assess the severity of your platysma bands, their location, and the specific concerns you have. He may ask you to perform certain neck movements to better understand the muscle’s action.

  3. Injection: Once the assessment is complete, Dr Gad will use a very fine needle to inject the platysma muscles. The injections are administered in specific areas to relax the muscle fibres, reducing the prominence of the bands and creating a smoother neck appearance.

  4. Results: The effects of the treatment are not immediate but typically become noticeable within a few days to a week after the procedure. The neck should appear smoother and more youthful. The results can last for several months, often ranging from three to six months.

  5. Follow-Up: Dr Gad recommend a follow-up appointment to assess the results and determine if additional injections are needed.

Key benefits of using Botox for platysma bands include:

  • Reduction in the visibility of neck bands and a more youthful neck appearance.
  • Minimally invasive procedure with little to no downtime.
  • Improvement in the contour and definition of the neck without the need for surgery.
  • Long-lasting results, typically lasting for several months.

This treatment is subject to an initial face to face consultation with Dr Gad. He can assess your unique needs, discuss potential risks and side effects, and ensure that the treatment is tailored to your specific concerns. Additionally, he can discuss proper aftercare and follow-up recommendations to maintain the benefits of the treatment.

FAQS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Anti-wrinkle injections are a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves the injection of neuromodulators into specific facial muscles. These injections are primarily used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face.

Here’s how anti-wrinkle injections work and what they are commonly used for:

  1. Neuromodulator Action: Anti-wrinkle injections contain a neurotoxin that temporarily blocks the nerve signals to the treated muscles. This relaxation of the muscles prevents them from contracting and forming wrinkles, which are often caused by repeated facial expressions.

  2. Reducing Dynamic Wrinkles: These injections are effective at reducing dynamic wrinkles, which are the wrinkles and fine lines that appear when you make facial expressions, like smiling or frowning. Common areas of treatment include crow’s feet (around the eyes), frown lines (between the eyebrows), and forehead lines.

  3. Preventive and Therapeutic: Anti-wrinkle injections can be used both for preventive purposes, to stop wrinkles from forming or worsening, and for therapeutic purposes, to lessen the appearance of existing wrinkles.

  4. Non-Surgical: One of the main benefits of anti-wrinkle injections is that they are non-surgical and minimally invasive. There’s little to no downtime, and the procedure is typically quick and relatively painless.

  5. Temporary Results: The effects of anti-wrinkle injections are temporary, lasting for several months, usually around three to four months, though this can vary among individuals. Maintenance injections are typically needed to maintain the results.

  6. Natural-Looking Results: Anti-wrinkle injections can provide natural-looking results, reducing the appearance of wrinkles without creating an overdone or frozen look.

The number of anti-wrinkle injections you need can vary based on several factors, including your individual goals, the areas you want to treat, the severity of your wrinkles, and your personal response to the treatment. It’s essential to have a consultation with Dr Gad who can assess your specific needs and provide personalized recommendations.

Here are some general considerations:

  1. Areas of Treatment: The number of injections needed will depend on the specific areas you want to treat. Common areas include the forehead, frown lines (between the eyebrows), and crow’s feet (around the eyes). Some individuals may choose to target one area, while others may opt for multiple areas.

  2. Severity of Wrinkles: The severity of your wrinkles and fine lines will also play a role in determining the number of injections. Deeper and more pronounced wrinkles may require extra doses to achieve the desired effect.

  3. Individual Variation: People respond differently to anti-wrinkle injections. Some individuals may require lower doses and fewer injections to achieve their desired results, while others may need a more comprehensive approach.

  4. Preventive vs. Corrective: The number of injections may also depend on whether you are using these treatments for preventive purposes to stop wrinkles from forming or for corrective purposes to address existing wrinkles.

  5. Maintenance: It’s important to understand that the effects of anti-wrinkle injections are temporary, typically lasting between 3 to 4 months. To maintain the results, you will need maintenance injections, which can vary in frequency depending on your individual response.

The duration of the effects of anti-wrinkle injections can vary from person to person. However, on average, the results of these injections typically last between three to four months. Here are some factors that can influence how long the effects of anti-wrinkle injections last:

  1. Individual Variability: Individuals have different metabolic rates and responses to the neuromodulator. Some people may metabolize the product more quickly, while others may experience longer-lasting results.

  2. Muscle Activity: The more active and strong the muscles in the treated area, the more frequently the neuromodulator may need to be repeated. For example, areas like the forehead or crow’s feet, where facial expressions are frequent, may require more frequent treatments.

  3. Regular Maintenance: To maintain the results, most people need to undergo regular maintenance injections. These follow-up treatments are usually scheduled every three to four months.

It’s important to consult with Dr Gad for personalized advice on when to schedule follow-up injections. They can assess your individual response to the treatment and provide guidance on the optimal timing for maintenance injections. By maintaining a consistent treatment schedule, you can enjoy more prolonged and consistent results.

Remember that anti-wrinkle injections provide temporary relief from wrinkles and fine lines, so continued treatments are necessary to maintain the desired appearance.

In most cases, you can return to work immediately after receiving anti-wrinkle injections. These injections are minimally invasive and typically involve minimal to no downtime. However, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Immediate Effects: While you can return to work right after the procedure, it’s important to note that the full effects of anti-wrinkle injections may not be visible immediately. It can take up to 2 weeks for the product to take full effect and for you to see the results.

  2. Potential Side Effects: Some individuals may experience mild side effects following the injection, such as redness, swelling, or minor bruising at the injection site. These side effects are usually temporary and can be easily concealed with makeup if desired.

  3. Avoid Excessive Physical Activity: After receiving anti-wrinkle injections, it’s advisable to avoid vigorous exercise and strenuous physical activity on the same day to reduce the risk of the product spreading to unintended areas.

  4. Minimize Sun Exposure: It’s a good idea to minimize sun exposure and wear sunscreen to protect your skin in the days following the procedure.

  5. Be Gentle: Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for the first 24 hours after the injections.

Overall, anti-wrinkle injections are designed to be a convenient and quick treatment with minimal disruption to your daily routine. Most people can return to work, social activities, and other regular tasks immediately after the procedure. However, if you have any concerns or questions about post-treatment care, it’s best to discuss them with Dr Gad during your consultation or after the treatment. He can provide you with specific guidance based on your individual needs.
